Mosaic Centre is a non-profit wellness centre serving people challenged by poverty, hunger and homelessness in northeast Edmonton. We are committed to building relationships and trust with community members which leads towards setting and achieving healthy goals.
Mosaic Centre was created in response to the needs of people in the community of Northeast Edmonton as a result of the increase in poverty, hunger and homelessness.
We offer an open door and believe that all people are created in the image of God and are entitled to a full measure of dignity, respect and compassion. We know that through building healthy relationships people can be encouraged and mentored towards safe and healthy lives.
The centre is a partnership of 3 churches: Emmaus Lutheran, Steele Heights Baptist and Trinity Christian Reformed and E4C and has been in operation since November 2009. Relationships have been formed with many other local community businesses and social agencies as we work together to alleviate poverty in the community.
Providing a safe and caring community Mosaic Centre offers assistance to the homeless and those at risk of become homeless by connecting individuals with resources, encouraging healthy life-style choices and offering examples and solutions for transformation.
We also offer basic needs such as toiletries, laundry, haircuts, clean clothing, socks, winter wear and a warm cup of coffee.
Mosaic Centre participates in the Winter Emergency Response program by extending operating hours, November through April to offer a warm, temporary shelter from the elements, seven evenings a week.
More than 3.5 million Canadians live in poverty. Over 150,000 of them live here, in Edmonton.
Thank you for helping Mosaic Centre give the community a ‘Hand Up’.
‘Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring. All of which have the potential to turn a life around.’ ~Anonymous
